Arsenal Transfers: Deal Agreed To Sign Petr Cech

But what about Wojciech?

Having already been linked with Newcastle's highly-rated and hotly-wanted winger Rolando Aarons this morning, Arsenal are busy once more in the rumour columns, having apparently agreed a deal to nick Petr Cech from Chelsea. The 32 year old 'keeper has grown unhappy at Stamford Bridge having seen Thibaut Courtois promoted to first choice after a phenomenally successful spell on loan with Liga champions Atletico Madrid and rumours surfaced in the summer that he wanted out. Arsene Wenger is apparently the man who has answered his call. According to reports regurgitated by the Daily Star, the Czech international will be on his way to Arsenal after a deal was agreed in principle to send him across London.
€œIt's believed Wenger has already held talks with the Blues, and according to some reports, has agreed a deal to sign the veteran goalkeeper in January.€
That report suggests that the Gunners boss wants to add competition to the position in January and has set the figure of £7million as what he will willingly pay for Cech. The Star say talks have already been held, and that the deal will go through when the transfer window reopens on January 1st. Some might suggest that Wenger would be better off boosting his options by signing a veteran for cheaper, as though Cech is 32, he would require some assurances that he would be first choice, which clearly throws current keeper Wojciech Szczesny into uncertainty. What is clear is that Cech wants to leave Chelsea because he wants first team football, so it's not likely he's going to sign for another club who won't guarantee is at the negotiation stage. Do you think Wenger is right to sign Petr Cech? Shlould money be spent elsewhere? Share your thoughts below in the comments thread.
