Aston Villa: 5 Reasons Paul Lambert Deserves More Time

4. Christian Benteke Isn€™t Firing

Let€™s be honest here the reason that Villa ended last season so strongly was largely down to the form of Christian Benteke; for whatever reason, things just having worked for Benteke since the opening few games of the season. The striker will be disappointed that he was been only able to score four goals in the league so far this season €“ in a campaign that he would have been hoping to Luis Suarez. I can certainly understand Villa fans frustrations over the fact that the team have only scored 19 times from their 20 games so far this season. However, the point here is that it isn€™t Lambert€™s fault, and he shouldn€™t be held responsible for the Belgium€™s striker poor form. The big positive is that the striker really struggled for goals prior to January last season €“ but after that really hit a purple patch. There is certainly no reason why he can€™t do something similar to that this season.
