Aston Villa: 5 Reasons Paul Lambert Deserves More Time
3. Villa Are Still Well Clear Of The Relegation Zone
I recognise that Villa havent been in the best of form lately with four defeats from their last six games, and defeats against Fulham, Stoke and Crystal Palace were always going to put him under pressure. However, its important to remember that the Premier League is always going to have a degree of inconsistency about it. Villa recorded a very good away victory against Sunderland during the week that allowed them to advance to 10th in the league, and six points clear of the relegation zone. In my view, good managers get important results when they really need them. Thats exactly what Lambert was able to do at the weekend. Lamberts team certainly has some tough league games coming up against Arsenal and Liverpool, but its amazing what a win can do for confidence. Villa are also one of the few teams that have been able to beat league leaders Arsenal this season. The transfer window is also now open that will allow the Villa boss to add more to his squad in the coming weeks.
