Bayer Leverkusen 0-5 Man United: Champions League Player Ratings

Man United

David De Gea: A few efforts straight at him early on and saved a deflected Derdiyok effort at the death. Had nothing to do for long spells, but did what was required. 6/10.

Chris Smalling: Pressure on Spahic helped to make second goal. Delivery from crossing positions slowly improving. Tapped in goal four. Clean sheet too, so impressive all round. 7/10.

Rio Ferdinand: Survived one or two scares in first half. Struggled to handle Kiessling when he went tight on him. Powers are diminishing and that will be a concern against tougher opposition. 5.5/10. Jonny Evans: Last-ditch block denied Kiessling at 0-0 and that was a big moment. Tapped in a third when Evra knocked down a Giggs corner to him. Great in both boxes tonight. 7/10. Patrice Evra: Teams still underestimating his aerial ability, so he popped up to assist the Evans goal. Couple that with a clean sheet and he gets a good rating. Subbed. 6.5/10. Antonio Valencia: Scored the opener at the back post off the woodwork unmarked. Ran riot down the right against Emre Can playing out of position directly up against him. Ecuador skipper looked accomplished against this opposition. Subbed. 7/10.
