Best Possible Football XI In The World Right Now

9. Centre-Back: Sergio Ramos

Sergio Ramos isn't exactly the most likeable player in the world. He's often reckless and ill-disciplined, and recently broke the record for the most red cards given to a Real Madrid player. Furthermore, Ramos is a Machiavellian schemer who thinks nothing of cheating to gain an advantage, and now that Pepe has left for Besiktas, he'll likely become Real Madrid's chief pantomime villain.

Despite all this, Los Blancos' captain is still one of the best in the business. A robust, powerful defender, the Spaniard has appeared exclusively at centre-back for Real in recent years, but his well-rounded skillset means he can play almost anywhere on the pitch. A former full-back, Ramos has occasionally filled-in at central midfield for Real over the years, and while primarily known for his defensive acumen, he's an excellent passer, and a master organiser.

Ramos is also a potent goal threat from set pieces, and hit the back of the net an impressive 10 times in 2016/17. He's one of those players who has been around forever, but he's still only 31, and will likely be driving opposing forwards round the bend for many more years to come.
