Blackburn Rovers 1-1 Man City: FA Cup Player Ratings
Blackburn
Paul Robinson: Call us sentimental, but we're giving the man of the match award to the Rovers stopper. Saved low from Fernandinho and a superb stop from Navas second half. Came smartly off his line when he needed to and got lucky when he parried Dzeko's effort away straight to Negredo. Nice to see the former England number one back. 7/10. Adam Henley: Young Welshman was energetic up from right back, but still lacking in big match experience and that showed here. 5/10. Scott Dann: Headed straight at Pantilimon from Blackburn's first two corners. Third time was the charm from set pieces ten minutes into the second half when Rovers skipper tapped in an equalizer. 6.5/10. Grant Hanley: Did well in the air, but not when Dzeko nodded to Negredo for the City opener. Taylor let him know it at half time too. Made up for it with a fine one-on-one tackle on Negredo in second half when City looked to counter. 6/10. Tommy Spurr: Took a chance when he pulled the shoulder of Negredo in the box at 0-0. Long throws caused problems. Big interception when Negredo bearing down on goal at 1-1. 6/10. Lee Williamson: One of two midfield anchors selected by Bowyer here and deployed effectively enough. There was none of the breaking forward that you may remember this player doing at Sheffield United here. Steady enough though. Subbed. 5/10. Jason Lowe: Really up for the midfield battle and all over City players there like a rash. Rarely allowed the lofty opposition to settle into any sort of rhythm. Bowyer must've known he was onto a good thing when he coached Lowe in the academy. 6/10. Chris Taylor: Deflected effort on 17 minutes earned a corner. Shot over at 0-0. Had a disagreement with Hanley at half time. Former Millwall man has stepped up a bit. 5.5/10. Tom Cairney: A bright young player that fancies himself at taking set pieces. Bowyer really pleased to have got him permanently. Cairney is learning on the job at Ewood. 5/10. Rudy Gestede: Hard working up front on his own, chased lost causes and fed off scraps for most of the match. Played a huge part in Dann's equalizer by outmuscling Lescott and heading on target. Vindicated his choice to leave Cardiff to get games with his performance here. Subbed. 6.5/10. Ben Marshall: Former Manchester United and Leicester winger failed to make much of an impression, though he did put in the corner that led to the equalizer. Played the last match at right back and now had to operate down his weaker side. The only tactical choice of Bowyer's that didn't really work. Subbed. 4.5/10. Subs: Josh King: Gave Boyata plenty to do down the left in 25 minutes off the bench. 5/10. Jordan Rhodes: Rovers top scorer came on for the last ten minutes. It seems Bowyer genuinely was resting him rather than worrying about reducing his value by cup-tying the prized asset at Ewood Park. Rating N/A. D. J. Campbell: Drew the foul that saw Boyata sent off in ten minutes off the bench. Rating N/A. Click next for Manchester City player ratings.
