5. Impressive Early Signings
Blackburn Rovers making four strong signings in less than two weeks? That kind of thing is unheard of at Ewood Park. Transfer windows for Rovers fans of late have always been a little disappointing. Not this season though. As soon as the transfer window was slung open, Blackburn brought in Fulham captain Danny Murphy and Portugal legend Nuno Gomes on free transfers, then paid peanuts for Portuguese winger Fabio Nunes and Newcastle striker Leon Best - all very strong signings for The Championship. And with Rovers linked to the likes of Jamie Mackie, Garra Dembele, Seb Hines, Simon Cox and Scott Loach, things are certainly looking up on the field.
4. Maintaining Most Of The Squad...So Far
As I write this, Blackburn Rovers have only lost two players. Last seasons top scorer Yakubu cleared off to the Chinese Super League to ply his trade with Guangzhou R&F, and Junior Hoilett, who ran out his contract, is a free agent. Hardly the mass exodus fans feared. Apart from transfer request from Steven Nzonzi, Rovers have so far held together the core of the team. Morten Gamst Pedersen, Gael Givet, Martin Olsson, David Dunn and Paul Robinson are still on the books all of whom can put a shift in in The Championship. If we hold onto these players, I can see Blackburn being the team to fear next season.
