3. Shebby Singh
On June 18th, Venkys brought in Shebby Singh, a former Malaysia defender and TV pundit, as the new Director of Football to work alongside Steve Kean. Thought to be another yes man for the Venkys spin machine, fans met the appointment with a monumental meh. However, since coming to Ewood, hes helped sort out the backstage staff, orchestrated the signings of new players, hes told the media and fans what they want to hear and has been very enthusiastic about everything. Slowly but surely hes helping to rebuild the fans confidence in Blackburn Rovers.
2. The Championship Is Unknown Waters
Blackburn Rovers have no idea what life will be like in the second tier of English football. It was very different during their last stay there eleven years ago, and we have no idea how Steve Kean will fare by dropping down a league. The gap in quality between the Premiership and Championship has closed dramatically and its a lot more competitive. But players who struggled for form last season may find their feet in The Championship (Im looking in your direction David Goodwillie!) and Blackburn might, just might prove to be a dominant force. For the first time in a long time, Blackburn will be playing for something other than mid-table mediocrity and have the opportunity to be the big boys of a league - and that alone should kick the players into life.
