Borussia Dortmund vs Arsenal: Player Ratings

Sven Bender: Protected his back four well until shock goal came through the middle. Subbed. 5.5/10. Nuri Sahin: Turkish playmaker looks rejuvenated by a return to Dortmund. Passing from deep was precise and clever. Sahin has become quietly effective again in the absence of Ilkay Gundogan. Cleared off line from Giroud in the second half. 7/10. Jakub Blaszczykowski: Screwed one wide and teed up another chance for Mkhitaryan. In the wars a bit otherwise as Gibbs fouled him a few times. Worked Szczesny saved on the counter, but not as dangerous this season. Subbed. 5.5/10. Henrikh Mkhitaryan: Spurned best first half opening when he shot wide. Armenian lashed over after the break. Not making the most of chances, but taking up the right positions. Nothing in this showing to make Liverpool rue missing out on him. 5/10. Marco Reus: Lucky to escape a booking for pulling back Rosicky. Fluffed his lines on the counter and Szczesny later saved a goalbound header. Spurned another chance at point blank range. Subbed. 5.5/10. Robert Lewandowski: Headed over late on and went down in the box at the death, but referee unconvinced. An effective focal point, but not carrying the same individual threat he has done in the past. 5/10. Subs: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: Unable to get into the game in 15-20 minutes off the bench. 4.5/10. Jonas Hofmann: Put in the odd cross, but nothing the Arsenal defence couldn't deal with. 4.5/10. Julian Schieber: Only had a few minutes. Rating N/A. Click next for Arsenal player ratings.
