1. Keep It Clean
The Bluebirds are only averaging a clean sheet about once every three games this season in all competitions (6 from 19). Marshall is doing his level best in nets to keep other teams out, but the defence in front of him could do better. Is Cardiff's record of shutouts that bad though? Five have come in the Premier League. How does that compare with other sides in the top flight? The answer will stun you. Mackay's Bluebirds have kept as many clean sheets as Premier League leaders Liverpool and fellow title contenders Chelsea. Even more shocking than that they can boast a better defensive record than reigning champions Manchester United. David Moyes and his Red Devils may have scored more and conceded less than Cardiff, but have kept just four league clean sheets. Of the current top four teams in England only Arsenal and Manchester City have more shutouts than the Bluebirds. And what about the sharp end where it really matters? Mackay's team have the second best number of clean sheets in the bottom six behind West Ham United. In the bottom half as a whole, they are joint third with Aston Villa, Hull and Swansea. Cardiff fans, we want to hear from you. How do you feel Malky Mackay has got on during his first campaign as a Premier League manager? How relieved are you that Vincent Tan has spared him the sack for now? Can the Bluebirds afford to ignore the January transfer window? Share your thoughts with us below.
