Champions League: 4 Tasty Knockout Ties That Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea & Arsenal Could Face

4. Arsenal vs Bayern Munich

If the draw throws this one out then we could well get a carbon copy of a match that occurred at the same stage last season. Bayern surprisingly lost the second leg en route to lifting to the trophy, but had done the damage at the Emirates.

Three away goals were enough to see off Arsenal despite their subsequent famous win in the Allianz. Arsene Wenger has strengthened the Gunners since then, however. Mesut Ozil and the return of Mathieu Flamini have been key components in a spine that now contains steel as well as silk.

Given the glut of advanced midfield options open to both sides this one would be a real treat. Aaron Ramsey is having the season of his life whilst Munich have added Thiago Alcantara and Mario Gotze to their ranks.

For all their records and historic treble last term holders Bayern are not invincible though. Manchester City won a dead rubber group game in Munich on Tuesday, but Pep Guardiola will not allow similar laxity in the knockout stages.

Conversely there is a small danger that this tie could be one for the connoisseurs €“ to put it plainly the teams might cancel one another out. On the whole we feel it would be a risk worth running if this match comes out again.
