Champions League Permutations - How Each Team Can Qualify

Group E is perhaps the most open of Groups in the competition - three sides can still qualify for the knock out stages. Shakhtar Donetsk are the table toppers at the moment, with Juventus in second and Chelsea in third, but that could all change. If Chelsea beat the whipping boys Nordsjaelland at Stamford Bridge, and Donetsk see off Juve at home, then Chelsea will finish second and qualify. The Blues' fate is out of their own hands however after being dismantled 3-0 by Juventus in the last round, a result that meant curtains for the unfortunate Roberto De Matteo. If Juventus beat Shacktar, or even draw with them, then Chelsea are out of the competition regardless of how well they fare against Nordsjaelland, and will become the first ever holders of the Champions League to have failed to navigate the Group Stages the season after. The good news is that Chelsea are at least guaranteed a place in the Europa League.
