3. Isaiah Brown (AM/ST)
The youngest player on this list and one who can already count a Premier League appearance to his name. Isaiah 'Izzy' Brown was so highly thought of at his previous club, West Bromwich Albion, that manager Steve Clarke gave the 16-year old a first team debut at the tail end of last season in the hope of convincing him to stick around. Unfortunately for Clarke, Brown opted to make the move to London regardless. Chelsea's abysmal history in transitioning young players to the first team might make that seem a rash decision, but confidence is something Brown has never been short of. As happy pushing forward from the attacking midfield positions as occupying his natural role at the head of the attack, Brown is tall (another one at 6'3), pacy and absolutely lethal in front of goal. He's currently plying his trade in Chelsea's U21 team, a full five years above his age level, and has made nine appearances for England's U17 side. At such a young age, it's enormously unlikely we'll be seeing Brown turn out at Chelsea's top level this or even next year. He's recklessly talented, but putting the pressure of a first team Chelsea debut on the shoulders of a 16-year old would seem no wiser than the club's general refusal to field its youngsters at all. Nevertheless, if Brown can stay humble and apply himself without losing the confidence which has already seen him come so far, he's certainly one to keep on the radar for anyone with an eye for young English talent, or Chelsea fans distressed by the club's ill-advised sale of Daniel Sturridge to Liverpool. Brown can certainly make his mark at the club, but in this case, Mourinho is correct that there's a big difference between turning out for Chelsea and most other Premier League clubs. Give this one a few years to find his feet.
