Chelsea Transfer News: Beckham On Trial At Stamford Bridge

Beckham Beckham could be set for a sensational return to the Premier League this season, according to the Daily Mail, but it isn't what you're thinking. No, it isn't David, the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy midfielder, but his son Brooklyn, who has had a trial at the club's state-of-the-art training ground. Beckham was pictured with a Chelsea academy player in the snow at Cobham yesterday, sparking speculation that the out-of-contract midfielder could be set for a remarkable move to the Premier League after leaving La Galaxy last year. But it turns out he was just there to watch his son turn out in a low-key academy game aimed at giving the young Beckham a taste of English football at junior level. An insider said:
"Brooklyn is like any teenager with an ambition to be a footballer. He has just returned to England and wanted to see how he fared. "Chelsea are one of the strongest academies in the country. The difference is that he is the son of the former England captain and this will draw attention."
And Beckham Jnr could have come in for some harsh criticism from his dad after the trial. Beckham Snr once said:
"I'm as hard on my boys as my dad was. They always ask, "Did I play well?" I'll say, "You did alright, could have done better..."
David Beckham is currently looking for a new club after leaving MLS club La Galaxy at the end of their season in December, and bowed out by winning the MLS Cup. And Sir Alex Ferguson will be glad he isn't about to join one of his Premier League rivals having spent a decade at Old Trafford. Beckham has drawn reported interest from QPR and West Ham in the Premier League, and Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain in France.
