Chelsea Transfer News: Diego Costa £30 Million Deadline Day Bid?

Chelsea are ready to make a sensational £30 million deadline day bid for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, according to the Metro. The Blues have re-signed Nemanja Matic from Benfica, bought Mohamed Salah from Basel and landed Kurt Zouma from St Etienne, but manager Jose Mourinho still wants a striker. And with moves for Wayne Rooney and Radamel Falcao looking unlikely, the 'Special One' will try and lure Costa to Stamford Bridge before the window slams shut at 23:00 GMT. The Brazilian has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 19 La Liga goals in just 21 appearances to help fire his side up into second in the table, above derby rivals Real Madrid. And the Blues will attempt to land his services in the most dramatic of fashion by loding a huge £30 million bid with a little over eight hours of the window remaining. It isn't clear whether Atletico would accept the offer this late on, as they would have little time to seek a replacement, though Demba Ba could be thrown in to push it through. On-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who has been at the Madrid club on-and-off since 2011, may also be used as a makeweight.
