The Metro are speculating that Chelsea will make a £35 million move for Nice midfielder Jean Michaël Seri over the next few weeks. Seri, a versatile player who can be deployed in the middle of the park or further upfield, was linked with a move to Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United last summer.

Meanwhile, The Daily Mirror say that any successful move for Seri from Stamford Bridge could lead to Danny Drinkwater heading in the opposite direction; the paper claim Chelsea bosses are ready to cut their losses on the 28-year old Englishman just one year after signing him from Leicester City for £30 million.

Drinkwater couldn't nail down a regular first-team place at Chelsea ahead of players like N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas last season and made just 12 Premier League appearances.

Ivory Coast international Seri plays in the same position as Drinkwater, and he's made over 100 appearances in Ligue 1 since moving to Nice from Portuguese side Paços de Ferreira in 2015.

Will Drinkwater, a title-winning player with Leicester just a few years ago, be on the market soon?
