1. Wayne Rooney
However, it is Manchester United's Wayne Rooney who is Chelsea's No.1 transfer target this summer, with Blues manager Jose Mourinho revealing last month the England international is his
only transfer target this summer. The self-styled "Special One" admitted it was "Rooney or bust" for the Europa League winners and is clearly keen to get his man, having already seen one offer knocked back for the 27-year-old. The offer,
reportedly £20 million, wasn't even considered by United, but the champions could bow to pressure should they receive an improved bid, particularly if it stands at £30 million+. Rooney has been deeply unsettled at Old Trafford this summer after being forced into playing an unfamiliar midfield role under retired manager Sir Alex Ferguson last season as well as benched for key games, such as against Real Madrid. The star was also left feeling
"angry and confused" over his treatment by new United boss David Moyes, who suggested the ex-Everton man was no longer the club's first choice centre forward. And Chelsea are hoping to take advantage of this by making an improved offer later this summer.
