Chelsea Transfers: 5 Goalkeepers Who Could Replace Thibaut Courtois This Summer

2. Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester City)

Kasper Schmeichel was developed in Manchester City's youth set-up and, after graduating, was shipped out on loan a total of six times, before being sold for a measly £1.5m to Notts County in 2009. It's clear that City completely underestimated Schmeichel's ability between the sticks, but you can imagine just how much they regret selling him for so cheap, given what he's achieved in the time since then.

A free transfer to Leeds United a year later was followed by a switch to Leicester City in 2011 for £1.5m the year after that. He's been performing at a high level with Leicester ever since - and even won the Premier League title, like his father Peter did with Manchester United all those years ago.

Valued at £10.8m, the 31-year-old could be a great option for Chelsea next season, either as the first choice or second. Most importantly though, Schmeichel has Premier League experience, which should put him ahead of many other names on Chelsea's shortlist.
