Jordan Pickford has been a highly regarded goalkeeper since his string of impressive performances for Sunderland in the 2016/17 Premier League campaign. They may have been relegated, but Pickford was still viewed by almost everyone as one to watch. Everton certainly recognised his potential and signed him for a whopping £25m at the end of the season.

Up until the World Cup, football fans and pundits alike were aware of Jordan Pickford's ability, but never really saw enough to truly see what he was capable of. That all changed during the summer, when Pickford's performances for England were no less than "world class". He even saved a penalty kick that could have knocked England out of the World Cup, and it was that block followed by Eric Dier's goal that sent England through to the next stage. Pickford was crowned a hero at that point.

His form in the World Cup continued right up until the final whistle of their last match in the semi-finals. Pickford was parrying shots left, right and centre, and it was becoming clear that he was the only real reason England were still in the competition. Sadly, Croatia would prove too much for them and England would be sent home. But Pickford was now on a whole different level to the one he had been on before he left for Russia, and so it's no wonder Chelsea have declared their interest.

Jordan Pickford's market value is around £31m, which is well within Chelsea's budget should they choose to pursue him this summer.
