Chelsea Transfers: 5 Left-Back Replacements For Ashley Cole

1. Luke Shaw

Could the Luka Shaw transfer saga take a surprise twist this summer? Thought to be headed for Manchester United in a £27 million deal, the Southampton left-back's move to Old Trafford could yet be hijacked by the Blues. That is because the teenager, who has been named in England manager Roy Hodgson's World Cup squad, is a Chelsea fan whose parents live in Raynes Park, a London suburb just 11 miles from Chelsea's Cobham training ground. Shaw has recently flirted with his boyhood club, with Mourinho identifying the starlet as an ideal replacement for Cole, who Shaw ironically displaced in Hodgson's provisional 23-man squad for Brazil. Following a highly-impressive season for Southampton, helping his side finish eighth, interest is high in Shaw this summer, with the Saints bracing themselves for big-money offers for the star. And, with no deal yet agreed to take him to United, there is still plenty of time for some last minute drama in the race to sign one of England's most promising defenders.
