Chelsea Transfers: 5 Players Di Matteo Must Buy To Catch City

2. Alvaro Pereira

Abramovic may have yet another Porto player in his cross-heirs. Chelsea made a bid for right back Pereira in the summer of 2011, only for Porto to rebuff their advances. The player himself signed a new deal on 3 October 2011 to stay at the Estádio do Dragão until 2016. His release clause was maintained at £25.7 million however, a price tag Abramovic could easily afford. Despite playing all 120 minutes of Chelsea's Champions League Final success over Bayern Munich, right back Jose Bosingwa was told he could leave Stamford Bridge once his contract expired the following month. Pereira could be the perfect replacement for the 29 year old. In 2010/11, he was part of the Porto team that won the treble, the Taça de Portugal, UEFA Europa League and the Primeira Liga. Pereira can also play at left back - and did so for Porto - and could be seen as the long term replacement for Ashley Cole.
