Chelsea Transfers: 5 Players Mourinho Needs To Clear Out Immediately

5. Oriol Romeu

Oriol Romeu CC The Spanish central midfielder and occasional centre half joined Chelsea in July 2011 for a relatively low fee, a bargain to anyone who had seen some of the midfield battlers performances for his previous employers, Spanish giants Barcelona. However, after been given the number 6 jersey and the Chelsea staff hoping that he would continue to develop into one of the worlds best defensive midfielders, his stay at Stamford Bridge has not been what he had hoped for. In his time in London, Romeu has only appeared in a handful of Chelsea's matches over the last two seasons- granted, he has been injured for the majority of the season, but I can not see him forming anything like a meaningful part of a Jose Mourinho squad at the Bridge- I am afraid to say that I think this is yet another case of a player being at the wrong club at the wrong time and failing to reach his potential. I could see Romeu heading to a mid table Premier League team and being one of their better players when he recovers from injury, but his more likely destination would be a return to Spain and to a culture he knows.
