Chelsea Transfers: 5 Reasons Mourinho Would Be Crazy To Sell Ramires

1. Frank Lampard

With the legend having moved on, there is a gaping hole in the deep lying midfield position, and while Cesc Fabregas may provide the attacking quality that Lampard brought to the squad, but defensively he won't come close. Lampard was infamous for his late arrivals in the box and his emphatic finishing, but it was his defensive discipline that made him one of the world's greatest. If ever the Chelsea back line was threatened by an oncoming assault, Lampard would be the ever-present guardian who would step in and remove the danger. Ramires and Matic are the two players who can offer this kind of dimension to the Chelsea midfield. Arguably, Matic is better at it. But one injury or too many games could lead to the big man missing a few games, and that is all it could take to ruin Chelsea's title challenge. Ramires is more important to the squad than he would initially seem. If Ramires is sold, who do you think should replace the enigmatic midfielder?
