Chelsea Transfers: 5 Things Didier Drogba Can Still Offer The Blues
3. A Learning Curve For Romelu Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku has endured a difficult time at Chelsea since joining from Anderlecht in 2011, making just the 10 appearances and being loaned out for two full seasons at West Brom and Everton. The big-money signing of Diego Costa this summer is hardly likely to fill him with confidence that he still has a future at the club. Lukaku wants to play football week-in, week-out, and with Costa set to be the main man next season, the substitutes' bench likely beckons for the young forward. This could easily breed discontent, but the presence of Didider Drogba could change all that. Drogba is Lukaku's idol, and the promise of learning his trade under the legendary striker at Stamford Bridge could make the waiting process for first team football much easier to bear. There's no doubt Lukaku has a promising future in front of him, but his lack of a look-in at SW6 has led many to question if that future will be at Chelsea. The return of Drogba could ensure that it will be.
