Chelsea Transfers: 5 Under-The-Radar Keepers To Replace Thibaut Courtois

2. Ralf Fahrmann (Schalke)

The 29-year-old Schalke 04 goalie has never played for his native Germany at senior level although he has played internationally at youth level from Under-16 through to Under-21.

Ralf Fahrmann joined Die Knappen as a youngster in 2003 and made his debut for the first team in a 3-3 draw with Borussia Dortmund in 2008. He was sold to Eintracht Frankfurt the following year but returned in 2011 after Schalke sold Manuel Neuer to Bayern Munich.

The stopper's heroics saw Schalke lift their first-ever DFL-Supercup that year as he was named Man of the Match after saving two penalties in a shootout against Dortmund.

Fahrmann's hands are considered quite safe as he can pull off incredible stops, but his distribution from the back also makes him valuable. Sure, he isn't a household name around Germany, yet his skill set would definitely soften the blow of losing Courtois for Chelsea if it ever came to that. He would also come in at a bargain price, with Transfermarkt valuing him at €13 million.
