This could almost be a La Liga clash. Barcelona vs Real Madrid, El Classico. Instead, it's Bayern Munich vs Chelsea, in the Uefa Super Cup, as Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho prepare to resume hostilities once more in this prestige one-off final. The winners of the Champions League take on the victors of the Europa League in Prague tonight with the first real trophy of the season at stake, not to mention a whole lot of pride. On Thursday, during his pre-match news conference, Mourinho was reminded that his record against Guardiola in Spain wasn't great - just three wins in 15 meetings. The typically outspoken Portuguese boss retorted: "Your statistics are very wrong."
"Go and see what happened when I was with Inter in the Champions League semi-final, the King's Cup final with Real in Spain, the Super Cup in Spain . "Maybe you are right and I am wrong but I don't care. This is not about us, it's about Chelsea and Bayern."
One thing that isn't wrong is that Mourinho has never won the Super Cup, while his old foe Guardiola is a veteran of four victories having won it twice as a player and two more times as a manager of Barcelona. But who will be taking home the 2013 trophy and, with it, the bragging rights for another year? We're about to find out.
