Chelsea vs FC Basel - 5 Basel Players To Look Out For

Screen Shot 2013 09 18 At 15 22 06 Despite Chelsea being odds-on favourites to win their Champions League clash with Swiss Champion's FC Basel, we all know football is not as simple as that, and Basel have the potential to cause an upset. The two teams have already clashed this year, Chelsea emerged 5-2 winners on aggregate in the Europa League semi-final, in what was ultimately a comfortable win, yet there where occasions where Basel made the game uncomfortable for the eventual Europa Champions. And Basel had already caused an upset on the way to the semi-final, with a win against Tottenham on penalties in the quarter-finals, with Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah and Austrian centre-half Aleksandar Dragovic particularly impressing. A few things have changed at Basel since lat season - Dragovic joined Dynamo Kiev and the prolific Alexsander Frei retired aged 33, but here are 5 players to watch out for when they come up against Chelsea.

5. Yann Sommer

Standing at 6ft, Yann Sommer is not the tallest of goalkeepers, yet with 16 clean sheets in the Swiss Super League last season, and still at the young age of 24, the Swiss shot-stopper has the potential to be one of the best in the business. An expert at stopping penalties, and with catlike reflexes, Chelsea will have to be at their best to beat Sommer, who has been previously linked with FC Schalke 04 and AC Milan. Although sometimes his handling can leave a lot to be desired, his speed and agility makes up for this and he'll be a hard man to beat tonight.
