Chelsea vs Genk - Champions League Match Preview

The big decision manager Andre Villas Boas has to make is whether to recall striker Fernando Torres for the Champions League home tie against Genk at Stamford Bridge.

Andre Villas Boas has to make is whether to recall striker Fernando Torres for the Champions League home tie against Genk at Stamford Bridge tonight. Chelsea's record signing Torres is currently suspended from the Premier League for his red card a few weeks back and has missed the last two games during which the Blues have scored eight goals. Daniel Sturridge is performing and has hit form scoring three goals in two games, they haven't felt like they have missed Torres one bit. He has thrived in an exciting new line up alongside Juan Mata and Dider Drogba as part of a forward three. Chelsea's opponents Genk are currently bottom of Group E with one point but have yet to register in Champions League games against Valencia and Bayer Leverkusen. They are very much the under-dogs of the group and the only chance they have for progression to the knockout stages you feel is if they perform tonight, which should make Chelsea a little cautious. Though Genk are really a side without much confidence and are struggling this season and have lost three games in a row in the domestic Belgium league and are as low as ninth in a 16th team division. They have the enviable task of trying to beat Chelsea at home in the Champions League, something that hasn't been achieved since 2003, 24 games ago.

Team News

Long term absentee Michael Essien is still way beyond returning and Ramires will join him on the sidelines tonight. Having been rested at the weekend, David Luiz should feature. Not too many changes expected tonight from the side that beat Everton at the weekend.

Line-ups from;

Chelsea (from): Cech, Ivanovic, Bosingwa, Alex, Ferreira, Terry, Luiz, Cole, McEachran, Mikel, Romeu, Lampard, Meireles, Mata, Malouda, Torres, Drogba, Anelka, Sturridge, Kalou, Turnbull. Prediction - 3-0 - No problem for Chelsea tonight against a low on confidence Genk.
