Chelsea vs Spurs: Team News, Match Preview & Likely Line-Ups

Match Preview

rafa benitez chelsea A win here for Chelsea would virtually guarantee Champions League football for next season and with it hand manager Rafael Benitez the added luxury of being able to rest key players for the weekend game against Aston Villa to keep them fresh for the Europa League Final against Benfica the following Wednesday. But a win for Spurs is equally as vital if they are to retain their now slim hopes of Champions League qualification this season. Spurs sit outside the top four having failed to win two of their last four Premier League games. Their task here will be difficult and not since February 1990 have the Lilywhites prevailed on Chelsea soil. Back then, Gary Lineker and David Howells got the goals in a 2-1 victory. Andre Villas-Boas' side will however have a potent weapon in Gareth Bale. The Welshman has scored 11 goals in his last 11 top-flight appearances, netting in each of his last four games.
