Chris Wondolowski – A Guaranteed January Transfer Target

Another game, another goal. That seems to be the common match-day thinking for the San Jose Earthquakes striker Chris Wondolowski as he put away his 22nd league goal of the season last night against a tough Seattle Sounders team, pushing hard for a play-off spot. The goal puts him ever closer to that elusive Golden Boot and with four games still left to play, he still has his sights on Roy Lassiter's 27 goal single-season record back in 1996, a big ask, but very achievable. A Bundesliga move is already a genuine possibility for the striker in January, with Hannover 96 reportedly interested in landing him around christmas time. The interest in him could intensify even further since he would not have to be considered as a non-EU citizenship player due to his polish heritage through his Grandfather. He is a goal machine, in the past three seasons 'Wondo' has been able to bag 56 goals in 86 league appearances for the San Jose Earthquakes, a remarkable feat for a team who is so used to mid-table mediocrity in the Western Conference, a team who at times solely relies on him for his goals. This season has been different however, with San Jose 11 points clear at the top of the table. The US international has put the ball in 22 times this season, the league's top scorer and with the January window coming up soon, with teams desperate for goalscorers as always and a current market value of £1.8 million it would be of no surprise to see a big European team swooping in for him. The question isn't an if, but when.
