Crystal Palace Transfers: Yohan Cabaye Talks Confirmed

Palace co-chairman admits Eagles are trying to sign PSG midfielder.

Yohan Cabaye is in talks to join Crystal Palace, Eagles co-chairman Steve Parish has confirmed. The former Newcastle midfielder looks set to leave Paris Saint-Germain just 18 months after his estimated £19 million (plus add-ons) move to the French capital and a switch back to the Premier League has looked on the cards all summer.
His spell at the Ligue 1 champions has been trophy filled but frustrating in pitch time, making only 20 league appearances last season after being in and out of a squad filled to the brim with quality players. The likes of Arsenal have been linked with a move for him after missing out on Cabaye in August 2013 when Arsene Wenger wouldn't meet Newcastle's valuation. The Magpies have been muted with interest along with Italian giants Roma, but it is a move to Selhurst Park that is the most intriguing and it is them that is seemingly leading the way for his signature.
Cabaye was Palace boss Alan Pardew's star man at Newcastle and his tenure in the North East went sour when he lost his influential playmaker. The desire to bring the 29-year-old to his new club is not unsurprising but Parish insists that the London club still have a lot to do to convince Cabaye to join the Eagles. "That's definitely one we would like to do," Parish told TalkSport. "If we can, it will be massive for the club. He's a seasoned international. That's definitely one we're working on. "Getting the top players is difficult, it's a difficult transfer market right now, "It's a bit blocked up, no one really wants to go first, no one wants to set the valuation. We've finished 10th and 12th, we've done well but we want to do better than that. "For us to get into the top 10 in the Premier League, we've got to be bringing in people that are top 10 Premier League players. It's not easy, because everyone wants those players." source - teamtalk
