2. England 2-1 Brazil 6th February 2013
Like the victory over Spain, this was another fine scalp for the Three Lions. Prior to kick off, much was being made about the style and skill of Brazil's attacking side. However it was the work rate and organisation of England which was the victor after 90 minutes. Rooney opened the scoring, proving once again that he really does hold the key to England's success in front of goal. However, the lead was cancelled out by former Lyon striker Fred. The front man has been rejuvenated since his return to his homeland and his goal rightly justified his selection. England though, rallied to claim a historic victory as Lampard produced a stunning finish to win the game with half an hour to go. The Chelsea midfielder guided a beautiful curling effort from outside the box past the motionless Julio Cesar. Such a strike was worthy of winning game. The match was also important as it saw Danny Welbeck employed on the left flank for one of the first times, a position he has now made his own under Hodgson. His link play with Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott was a particular highlight, showing England fans what the future may hold for the Three Lions. The victory was England's first over Brazil for 23 years and as such the historic win was one of England's finest at Wembley.
