England's Euro 2021 Starting XI

1. Raheem Sterling - Left Winger

Potential candidate: Marcus Rashford.

Both Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford deserve to start for England, but only one can. Both are excellent choices, and both have a bright future ahead of them (even brighter than it already is).

Only one thing puts the Manchester City winger ahead of the Manchester United player: Gareth Southgate's preference. Without a doubt, Sterling is Southgate's main man.

The 25-year-old has scored 12 goals in the Premier League this season and made 40 appearances in all competitions. What makes his number of appearances so impressive is the way Manchester City rotate their squad. Sterling rarely gets dropped, regularly playing even though his competition includes some of the best wingers in the world. Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and Leroy Sane all make way for Sterling.

Rashford will definitely be unlucky to miss out on the starting 11 and there are many fans who will believe he is better than Sterling. The 22-year-old has amassed a lot of England caps despite his tender age, 38 to be precise. He will add to these and he will also add to his goal tally, but as far as being on the pitch for the big games, he might have to settle for qualifiers against Andorra.
