England's Euro 2021 Starting XI

7. Ben Chilwell - Left Back

Potential candidate: Luke Shaw.

Unlike the right-back position, England are not so blessed at left-back. The Leicester defender has not had the best season of his career, but he has been ever-present in a successful Leicester side who are fighting for the top four.

The 23-year-old is rumoured to be a top target for Frank Lampard's aspirational Chelsea squad. However, if Leicester continue their good form into next season with Chilwell staying put then without a doubt the defender will add to his 11 England caps.

The quintessential modern-day full-back, Ben Chilwell would easily fit into any side in the Premier League and even give Liverpool's Andrew Robertson a run for his money. The left-back has lightning-quick pace and his ability to get up and down the left-wing will be essential to England's hopes at the Euros.

Luke Shaw's prosperous early days at Southampton feel so long ago, after injuries and a falling out with Jose Mourinho stalled his career. A good season under Ole Gunnar Solskjær has restored some of his early promise, but he is still falling short of his (perhaps) lofty potential. He'll most likely be playing second fiddle to Ben Chilwell for years to come.
