England’s Potential Euro 2016 Starting XI

We’re English so we’ll play 4-4-2.

Given England€™s dire and totally forgettable World Cup and the retirement of the so-called €˜Golden Generation,€™ attention now turns to the road to Euro 2016 and if we€™ll actually be any good when we get there (spoiler alert €“ probably not). Thanks to last month€™s victory over Switzerland in what was, on paper, our toughest fixture, qualification for the tournament is pretty much assured. For the likes of Roy Hodgson and more importantly armchair pundits like you and me, the remaining pointless qualifiers like last night€™s 5-0 drubbing of San Marino give us the opportunity to rate and slate €“ more likely the latter - a whole host of emerging young English talent. With that in mind I€™ve predicted my England XI to start the Euros in 2016. Formation We€™re English so we€™ll play 4-4-2. As so-called football experts tell you we€™re not allowed to play 4-4-2 anymore I€™ve had to go for the diamond in midfield utilised so well by Liverpool last season and selected by Hodgson in last week€™s qualifier against Switzerland. This option allows us to avoid the stigma of playing the prehistoric, traditional 4-4-2, to pack the midfield and also offer support upfront. Click "next" below to get started;
