Everton 0-1 West Brom - 6 Things We Learned

5. Wasteful Everton Fluffed Their Lines In The Final Third Again

Despite having one of the league's top scorers on their books in Romelu Lukaku and a credible threat from midfield, Everton€™s chances-to-goals ratio is woeful. Nothing highlights this problem like Saturday's defeat to West Bromwich Albion. The Blues managed 34 attempts on goal without finding the net, more than any other side in a Premier League contest this season. In Everton€™s defence, luck wasn€™t on their side. Barkley€™s effort that rattled the woodwork in the first half was deserving of a goal, and the dominant hosts claimed a whopping 76% of the possession. But that doesn€™t excuse their wastefulness in the final third - only six of their 34 chances were on target. To the Baggies credit, they defended solidly throughout. Olsson put in a man-of-the-match performance at the heart of their backline and produced an impressive 17 clearances and six blocks, including a goal-saving interception to deny Seamus Coleman early on.
