Everton 1-2 Swansea City – 6 Things We Learned

1. Francesco Guidolin Makes An Immediate Impact At Swansea

The Swans new manager watched on from the stands when they defeated Watford 1-0 last weekend, and in his debut match at the helm, they recorded their first ever league victory over Everton, a feat it took them 22 attempts to pull off. The former Udinese boss had a reputation for claiming big scalps in Italy, proving he has the stomach for a relegation battle. The Swans, who had won just once in 11 Premier League matches prior to his arrival, will no doubt feel renewed hope of beating the drop. On the pitch, there were positives to draw from their win at Goodison Park. Swansea claims 60% of possession in the early stages and took their chances when they fell their way, something Everton were unable to do when the tide threatened to turn in the second half. They rode their luck for lengthy spells, but also defended doggedly and frustrated Everton until the final whistle. There was an element of fortune about both goals, but it was determination and discipline that maintained their lead and secured the three points.
