Everton have a number of players blessed with that most sought after asset in the modern game - pace. The likes of Coleman, Deulofeu, Mirallas and McGeady allow Martinez's side to attack with real intent. Everton's style of play has resulted in them dominating possession in the majority of games they have played in this season, including an eyebrow raising performance at the Emirates earlier in the season. However, if you glance across Stanley Park you will have seen a team utilise their pace much more effectively. Roberto Martinez got to see this at close quarters as Everton were systematically pulled apart by Liverpool, despite enjoying more possession. It is Liverpool's ability to counter attack with pace and precision that has seen them move 5 points clear of the Toffees in the race for Mersey bragging rights. The three S's, Sturridge, Suarez and Sterling have been in sparkling form in recent weeks, with the weekend demolition of Arsenal another example of just how effective their football can be. A similar approach could be worth Martinez considering, especially with the players he has at his disposal.
