Everton have signed former Celtic winger Aiden McGeady from Spartak Moscow for an undisclosed fee. McGeady, 27, has penned a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Toffees. He was unveiled to the Goodison Park crowd before Everton's win over Norwich City on Saturday. Roberto Martinez had been linked with Republic of Ireland international McGeady during his days at Wigan. He was out of contract at Spartak this summer, but the Toffees wanted to bring him to Merseyside in this window. McGeady cost Spartak £9.5 million in 2010 and scored 13 goals in 93 games for the Russian Premier League outfit. He fell out of favour with coach Valery Karpin in November, however, and was made to train with the reserves. During six years at Celtic, McGeady won four Scottish Premier League titles, two Scottish Cups and as many Scottish League Cup. He also received a number of individual accolades, including the SPFA's Players Player of the Year in 2008 and three Bhoys' Young Player of the Year awards. McGeady will join fellow countrymen Seamus Coleman, Darron Gibson and James McCarthy at Everton. He has 63 caps for the Republic of Ireland, scoring three times. The Toffees are in the mix for a Champions League for next season.
