Everton Transfers: 5 Players Roberto Martinez Might Sign

1. Arouna Kone

ArounaKone One final former player Roberto Martinez could make a move for is Arouna Kone. The Ivorian international enjoyed a remarkable debut season in the Premier League following his switch from Levante, scoring 11 Premier League goals and helping Wigan to a remarkable FA Cup win over Man City. Though he only joined the Latics last summer, Wigan's relegation to the Championship will make it difficult for them to hold on to the player, and Liverpool are also understood to be circling the waters. Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring the star to Anfield and could enter a straight shootout with his Merseyside rivals Everton for the striker's signature this summer. Kone will be available for a basement-fee of £6.5 million due to his release clause which makes him a viable option for both. Yet it is Everton's need that is greater. Liverpool already have Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Fabio Borini, while the Toffees are light in the striking department with Nikica Jelavic at times carrying the club on his own back. And Kone's arrival would help ease the burden of the overworked star and may even help fire Everton toward those ever elusive top four places...
