5. Shaun Maloney
So far in the transfer market, most of the signings made by Roberto Martinez are of players that have previously played under him last season at Wigan. Arouna Koné, Antolin Alcaraz and Joel Robles have all been lured to Goodison Park to play for their former manager. If Martinez can lean on Dave Whelan to make another signing, it wouldn't be a bad move to persuade Shaun Maloney to become the fourth Wigan player to forego a Championship season with them and jump on board with Martinez' project on Merseyside. A key part of Wigan FA Cup last year, he was praised by pundits as one of Wigan's shining lights of a bittersweet season. As the
Daily Star are reporting, the Merseyside club have been given the green light to bid for Maloney and this opens the door for Martinez to try and lean further on Wigan chairman Dave Whelan into allowing him to get another Wigan man.
