Everton vs Liverpool - 5 Key Battles To Define The Derby

5. Henderson vs Barry

An unlikely midfield clash could affect the way the result goes on Saturday. Jordan Henderson is a man with a point to prove. Having never set the world alight since his multi-million pound signing from Sunderland, the 23-year-old appears to be coming of age this season. A string of impressive performances, culminating in an England call-up, has prompted Everton boss Roberto Martinez to pinpoint the midfielder as a threat in the lead up to the game. Martinez will surely turn to Gareth Barry, the most experienced man in the side with over 500 Premier League appearances, to nullify the threat of his counterpart. Though largely underrated as a player, Barry possess defensive qualities and discipline to keep Henderson in check. Should the Liverpool player be allowed time and space to go forward, he can then bring the strikers into play.7 Despite the rising stock of the Sunderland born midfielder, he will have a tough day at the office against Barry.
