Everton vs Man Utd: 5 Things United Must Do To Win

2. Reform Centre-back Partnership of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic

Nemanja Vidic returned from a cruciate ligament injury to take part in Manchester United's pre season tour of Scandinavia. Vidic has been out since December after injuring his knee in the Champions League match against FC Basel, and the United captain was a huge miss at the heart of their defence in the Championship run in. The centre-back partnership of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic is among the most formidable in Europe. The statistics are simple - when they play with each other, the team concedes less goals. Although Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Johnny Evans had huge success deputising for the pair last season, they still remain United's first choice partnership. With Everton's attacking options not among the best in the league, this seems the perfect opportunity for Rio and Nemanja to forge their partnership once again. Nikica Jelavic will prove the main threat to the pairing, with the ex-Rangers man making a huge impact since joining the Toffees in the January transfer window of last season.
