McGeady would naturally fill such a role, having played out wide for Everton, Celtic, and Spartak Moscow over the years. The Everton man, now 29 years old, faces a season on the bench if he fails to land a move away from Goodison Park. The Toffees have scooped exciting Barcelona loanee Gerard Deulofeu on a permanent deal, and are even rumoured to be readying a shock bid for Inter's Xherdan Shaqiri, shoving McGeady firmly down the pecking order. According to the Mirror, both Dick Advocaat and Lee Congerton are admirers of the winger, and would be keen to lure him to Wearside. Despite such rumours, Jeremain Lens must remain favourite to appear at the Stadium of Light this season, the Black Cats having offered a £9,000,000 bid for the Dynamo Kyiv man. The signing of McGeady would surely divide opinion at Sunderland; at Everton he is regarded by some as an exciting flair player of considerable skill, while others believe him to be nothing more than a show-pony.
