Everton's Leighton Baines Admits Man United Interest Is Flattering

"The United link is flattering. There is no harm in people talking about it because it is a great club."

Everton and England defender Leighton Baines has admitted he is flattered by the interest of Manchester United. The 27-year-old has frequently been linked with a summer move to Old Trafford. The transfer speculation comes as no surprise as Ferguson has been rumoured to be splashing the cash after just losing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City this term. Baines is currently on international duty preparing for the Euro 2012 tournament that kicks off in June. Although at a press conference at the England camp, England questions were left out as Baines was asked on his current link with the Red Devils:
"The United link is flattering. There is no harm in people talking about it because it is a great club."
He also added that he loves Everton and admitted it would be difficult to leave:
"But I'm at a great club as well, a club that I love."
Baines joined Everton from Wigan back in 2007 for a reported £6 million, and although he has featured in over 30 games a season since 2008/09, a move to Old Trafford may be able to tempt away from Goodison Park. It's reported Sir Alex will have to make Everton an attractive bid if they wish to land the 27-year-old. If Ferguson does secure the deal it will help United prepare for any injuries they may face in the upcoming season, especially with the likes of Vidic sitting out most of last season.
