Stewart Downing (West Ham United) Due to Steve McClaren's previous Middlesbrough connections, West Ham United midfielder Downing has been linked with a reunion with his former boss on Tyneside by The Star. Available for between £5 million and £7 million this summer, it is believed Sunderland is the 30-year-old's most likely summer destination. Jordan Cousins (Charlton Athletic) Young English talent is also high on the agenda for the Magpies this summer and Charlton Athletic starlet Jordan Cousins has been suggested as being a Newcastle target. The 21-year-old midfielder is wanted by Newcastle, Liverpool and Aston Villa, according to The Daily Mail. Yohan Cabaye (Paris Saint-Germain) Linked with Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, as well as a reunion with Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace, The Daily Star attempted to excite Toon supporters by claiming Newcastle were looking to take 29-year-old Yohan Cabaye back to Tyneside on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain. Marco Van Ginkel (Chelsea) Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel endured a frustrating and unproductive loan spell at AC Milan last season but he could make a similar switch to Tyneside in the coming weeks. Dutch outlet AD claim that the 22-year-old Dutch midfielder has accepted a loan offer from Newcastle for the 2015-16 campaign. Tarique Fosu (Reading) Reading midfielder Tarique Fosu only made his debut in the final game of last season but various publications claimed the Magpies were among a host of clubs keeping tabs on the 19-year-old. Georginio Wijnaldum (PSV Eindhoven) Sunderland, West Ham United, Newcastle, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have all been credited with an interest in PSV Eindhoven midfielder, who would likely cost £14 million. Various publications believe the Magpies are looking at Wijnaldum, but it appears that PSG or Sunderland remain more-likely destinations.
