Every Player To Score On Their Newcastle Debut In The Premier League
2. Papiss Cisse - Vs Aston Villa (February 5th 2012)
When Newcastle United completed the signing of Papiss Cisse from SC Freiburg for £9.3 million on January 21st 2012, it was a deal that had been done almost completely under the radar. Allegedly flown across from Germany on a flight paid for by Sunderland, at least in NUFC folklore, the forward joined fellow Senegalese international Demba Ba on Tyneside. Handed the famous No 9 shirt, Cisse made his Newcastle United debut on February 5th, replacing the injured Leon Best after 14 minutes of the match against Aston Villa at St James' Park. In a game devoid of quality for large portions, Ba had given the Magpies the lead before Robbie Keane had equalised for the visitors right on half-time. With the match heading towards a draw, however, Cisse stepped forward to win Newcastle all three points - and in breathtaking fashion. Jonas Gutierrez delivered a low cross into the box which the striker flicked up to himself with his left foot on the edge of the area, before then smashing an unstoppable volley into the top left-hand corner of the net. To date, Cisse has scored 35 Premier League goals for the Magpies in 97 games (as of August 11th 2015) - many of which have been of unparalleled quality - and he will hope to add many more to that tally in the weeks, month and years to come.
