How do you follow up an incredible treble winning season? Completely outclass everyone and win the league with ease is what United did.

There was a lot going against them as well. Apart from the having to live up to the expectations set from the previous season, they had to deal with the departure of Peter Schmeichel and the season ending injuries to Wes Brown and Jesper Blomqvist.

Although their goalkeeper problems continued, that was their only setback. With Beckham, Giggs, Yorke, Solskjaer and Andy Cole in their prime, they scored a whopping 97 goals, accumulated 91 points, lost just three times and finished an inconceivable 18 points ahead of Arsenal, a record that stood for nearly 20 years. They simply were in a class of their own.

An almost perfect team, a list high 45 goals conceded is their only drawback.
