Every UEFA Champions League Final Ranked From Worst To Best
6. Real Madrid 4-1 Juventus (2017)
The 2016 Champions League final at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium was a tale of two halves.
The first belonged to Juventus, who dominated the opening 20 minutes with Gonzalo Higuain guilty of missing two great chances to put the Bianconeri ahead.
Juve were made to pay for their prolificacy soon after when Cristiano Ronaldo broke the deadlock with a deflected finish following good work from Dani Carvajal.
The Italians continued to have the best of the game though and found themselves level in sensational style, just seven minutes later courtesy of a spectacular acrobatic goal from Mario Mandzukic.
Heralded as one of the best seen in a Champions League final, it appeared to tip the tie well and truly in Juventus’s favour with Massimiliano Allegri’s team finishing the half strong.
But a very different Real Madrid came out in the second half and quickly assumed control of the game.
They were fortunate to retake the lead – Casemiro's long-range strike deflected off Sami Khedira and past Gianluigi Buffon – but there was nothing lucky about Real’s third and fourth goals with Juventus twice hit on the break as they attempted a fight back.
While the theatrics Sergio Ramos deployed to get Juan Cuadrado sent off put a slight damper on proceedings, the quality of Mandzukic’s strike, coupled with the number of goals made it a final to savour. Real may have run out 4-1 winners but as a showcase of the Champions League at its best, the final excelled.
