Every UEFA Champions League Final Ranked From Worst To Best

25. Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham (2019)

Liverpool and Tottenham both overcame seemingly insurmountable odds to reach the final at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.

The Merseysiders overturned a 3-0 first leg loss to Barcelona in the Nou Camp, winning 4-0 in front of a raucous Anfield crowd.

Spurs meanwhile recovered from 2-0 against Ajax in their second leg to win 3-2 in Amsterdam and reach their first ever European Cup final.

Fans awaited more drama in Spain and they got it with just 24 seconds on the clock when Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko handled the ball in the area after instinctively blocking a Sadio Mane cross with his outstretched arm.

Mohamed Salah, who had famously gone off in tears in the final a year earlier, duly stepped up to score the resulting penalty.

Despite the initial buzz, however, the game itself petered out from there, with both teams trading shots and possession without creating many clear-cut chances.

Though things improved in the second half, with Spurs coming close on several occasions, Liverpool ultimately sealed victory on 87 minutes through substitute Divock Origi, one of the heroes of the win over Barcelona, who slotted home to secure a sixth European Cup for the Reds and manager Jürgen Klopp’s first trophy at the club.

Enjoyable for Liverpool supporters but decidedly average for neutrals.
